Billikens Tabbed Fourth in Preseason Poll

Saint Louis was tabbed for a fourth-place finish in the 2019-20 Atlantic 10 Conference women’s basketball race, the league announced Tuesday.

VCU (189 points, 11 first-place votes) was the coaches’ pick to capture the conference title.

Three different teams received the other first-place nods, including runner-up pick Dayton (177 points), third pick and defending A-10 tournament champion Fordham (174 points) and fourth-voted Billikens (138 points).

Davidson (135) was selected fifth, followed by George Mason (116), George Washington (114), Massachusetts (107), Duquesne (98), Saint Joseph’s (67), Richmond (52), Rhode Island (47), St. Bonaventure (34) and La Salle (22).

Eighth-yer head coach Lisa Stone welcomes back eight players from last year’s team, which reached the quarterfinals in the A-10 Championship. Senior Kendra Wilken and junior Lauryn Hughes are the lone upperclassmen that are back. The returning group also includes Ciaja HarrisonBrooke FlowersMyia ClarkChloe RiceMyriama Smith Traore and Jaidah Stewart.

The Billikens welcome in graduate-transfer Hannah Dossett and junior-transfer Victoria Mikkelsen this season, both of whom are immediately eligible. The incoming freshmen class includes Rachel KentJulia Martinez and Lia Enos.

Saint Louis will face six non conference opponents – including Kansas and Princeton – and eight Atlantic 10 Conference foes at Chaifetz Arena this year. Following a Nov. 1 home exhibition game vs. McKendree, the Billikens open the season at home on Nov. 6 vs. UT Martin.
