You know her well in Pretty Little Liars, X-MEN: First Class, Mad Max: Fury Road and her portrayal as the ancestor to Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter franchise, Leta Lestrange, in Fantastic Beats: The Crimes of Grendelwald. Now, the 30 year old actress and singer is set to step into the shoes of Selina Kyle, AKA Catwoman, in the upcoming Matt Reeves The Batman.
Other actresses that have played the on-again-off-again lover of Batman in other feature films and television series’ has been Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt, the legendary Lee Meriweather (all from the 1960’s Batman); Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway in Christopher Nolan’s 2012 The Dark Knight Rises. Camren Bicondova and Lili simmons both portrayed the antiheroine in the Gotham TV series.
The Batman has been in development since 2015 with Ben Affleck attached to help write, direct and star as the Caped Crusader, until he
suddenly dropped out and hung up the cape and cowl. It came to a surprise to everyone when Twilight star Robert Pattinson was announced to take up the mantle and portray the titular character. And while I did like Affleck as Batman, Michael Keaton will still always be my favorite actor that has played the Caped Crusader.
The Batman is set for a tentative release for June 2021.
