First-Place Billikens Continue to Roll

RECAP

Saint Louis continued its winning ways with a 2-0 victory at La Salle on Saturday night in Atlantic 10 Conference men’s soccer action in Philadelphia.

The Billikens have won five in a row and move to 8-3 overall and 5-0 in A-10 play. La Salle falls to 6-6-1 and 2-3 in the league.

Freshman goalkeeper Patrick Schulte made four saves and registered another shutout, the sixth of his young career. Saint Louis still has yet to allow a goal in A-10 play.

Devin Boyce opened the scoring in the 21st minute on a goal that was assisted by Jacob Goyen. It was Boyce’s fourth goal of the season.

Leo Novaes registered an insurance goal in the 67th minute, assisted by Matteo Kidd. It was Novaes’ team-leading sixth score of the year.

Saint Louis leads the A-10 with a 5-0 record (15 points). VCU, which was idle this weekend, is second in the league with a 4-0 record (12 points).

The Billikens are home for their next two – Tuesday, Oct. 15 vs. Denver and Saturday, Oct. 19 vs. Dayton.
