SLU Freshman Patrick Schulte Called up to U-20 MNT

by Brian Kunderman

Saint Louis freshman keeper Patrick Schulte has been called to the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team for a training camp and a pair of matches in Slovenia in early September.

Schulte and the U.S. U-20 MNT will play Croatia on Thursday, Sept. 5, and United Arab Emirates U-23 on Monday, Sept. 9. He will return to the Billikens immediately following the camp.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for Patrick to play for his country,” SLU head coach Kevin Kalish said. “We have known all along that Patrick is one of this country’s best young prospects. We are proud to call him a Billiken and know he will positively represent our program both on and off the field.”

Schulte is one of 22 players called by U-20 MNT head coach Tab Ramos, and one of two collegiate freshmen, joining defender Kwabena Boateng of UC Irvine.

The training camp represents the start of a new two-year U-20 MNT cycle. All players called to the camp were born in 2001, the birth-year cutoff for the 2021 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
