It’s been months since the first footage of The Mandalorian was released privately to audiences attending the Star Wars Celebration in Chicago four months ago. But now we finally get our first trailer, and I can say I couldn’t be more excited.
Directed by Jon Favreau, the man who brought you the Iron Man films (and plays Happy Hogan in some of the Marvel films, most recently in Spider-Man: Far From Home), The Mandalorian takes place about five years after Star Wars Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi, and is set in the Outer Rim, the out most reaches of the galaxy and far beyond the New Republic’s authority. The series will center around The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal), a gun slinging bounty hunter (much like Jango and Boba Fett) trying to make his way in the galaxy after the fall of The Empire.
Since Disney’s acquirement of all Star Wars things related, they haven’t stopped yet at releasing Star Wars projects each year, starting with Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens back in 2015. Since gaining momentum, it’s been announced officially that an Obi-Wan series is now in development, with Ewan McGregor returning to reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi. Other Star Wars projects officially announced is a new Star Wars trilogy being helmed by Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. It is also said that Rian Johnson, who helmed Star Wars: The Last Jedi, will be creating a series himself. It was also recently announced that a movie set during the Knights of the Old Republic era is in active development.
It’s no doubt that we’ll be seeing a lot more Star Wars for next several years to come. The Mandalorian is set to release November 12th on Disney’s new Disney+ streaming service.
