Cody Luther made history in Saint Louis’ 5-0 win over St. Bonaventure in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader. The senior threw the first nine-inning no-hitter at SLU since 1961. Luther struck out a career-high 11 opposing hitters, while scattering two walks in his dominant start over the Bonnies.

Luther won his team-leading fifth game, bringing him to 5-2 on the year. He also lowered his ERA to 2.30 in 54.2 innings pitched.

Corrigan Bartlett extended his on-base streak to 28 games with his standup triple in the second inning. He finished the game 3-4 with one run scored.

The Billikens hit back-to-back home runs for the second time this season when Shane Benes and Cole Dubet both smacked one over the left field wall in the bottom of the seventh. Benes had two hits in game one, going 2-3 with one RBI and one run scored.

Saint Louis took the series finale 4-1 in game two of the doubleheader on Saturday.

Senior Ryan Lefner pitched 3.0 innings to earn the save, tying him with Travis Parker for the Billikens all-time saves lead (22). He gave up no runs on two hits and struck out three.

Jackson Wark took home the win, evening his record to 2-2 on the season. He threw 6.0 innings, allowing one run on six hits and striking out ten.

Ben Livorsi connected on his third home run of the season. His solo blast to right field was part of a three-run Billikens sixth inning.

Scott Youngbrandt finished the second game 2-3 with two runs scored.

The Billikens are back in action on Tuesday evening, when Rockhurst comes to town for a one-game set beginning at 5 p.m. CT.
