Rachel Kent, who in November signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Saint Louis University and play for the Billikens, scored a game-high 19 points to lead Maine West H.S. to a 58-46 win over Mother McAuley in the Illinois Class 4A state championship game Saturday night. In addition to capturing the state crown, Maine West completed a 35-0 season.
Kent added five rebounds, two steals and an assist in the title contest and was selected Player of the Game. The 5-foot-11 forward was named first-team All-State by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association and by the Associated Press, finishing the season with averages of 14.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
