Cardinals and Mikolas Reach Agreement on Contract Extension

by Aaron Mullins

Miles Mikolas is coming off a wonderful 2018 campaign where he won 18 games with an ERA of 2.83 over 200.2 innings. It certainly wasn’t expected from the masses but it has earned him a contract extension.

Mikolas extension is 68M over 4 years

The contract extension is worth $68M over four years. The Cardinals have Michael Wacha and Adam Wainwright coming off the books in 2019 so bringing Mikolas back long term seems to be a good deal for both Mikolas and the organization.

Mikolas was incredibly efficient in 2018 leading the Major Leagues in walk rate and strike percentage. He was the only starter in Major League Baseball with more starts than walks.

The Cardinals have a press conference in place for 5:30 PM EST.

What are your thoughts?
