THE BASICS
• Saint Louis rallied after trailing by 10 points in the fourth quarter, but Davidson hung on for a 60-57 Atlantic 10 Conference win Saturday afternoon at Belk Arena.
• The Billikens fell to 13-14 overall and 8-6 in the A-10. The Wildcats improved to 16-11, 10-4.
• Jordyn Frantz scored a team-high 18 points and matched her career high of five 3-pointers (5-of-11).Kerri McMahan, who scored seven points during SLU’s comeback attempt, finished with 11, as didMyia Clark, who was 3-of-3 from beyond the arc.
• Brooke Flowers collected 17 rebounds (six offensive) and McMahan tallied five assists, both game highs. It was Flowers’ eighth double-digit rebound total of the season.
• Saint Louis sank a season-high 10 3-pointers (10-for-20) and earned a 43-38 advantage on the boards.
FIRST QUARTER
• Saint Louis scored the first 10 points of the game on layups by McMahan and Flowers and 3-pointers by Frantz and Clark.
• Davidson answered with an 8-0 run, but another Frantz triple made it 13-8 Billikens after one quarter.
SECOND QUARTER
• Davidson drew even at 13 with 7:32 remaining.
• SLU took the first-half lead for good, 16-13, on a Clark 3-pointer. She would connect from deep again, as would Frantz and Tasia Jeffries, in a spurt that put the Billikens on top 31-23.
• The Bills took a 31-25 lead to the locker room.
THIRD QUARTER
• A 3-pointer on Davidson’s first possession cut the margin in half, but Saint Louis went up by eight on aCiaja Harbison jumper and a Frantz trey on consecutive possessions.
• The lead floated between five and eight points until a Davidson bucket with 3:16 left triggered a 17-1 run that carried over to the fourth quarter.
• The Wildcats earned their first lead and went in front to stay, 45-44, on a shot that just beat the buzzer.
FOURTH QUARTER
• Davidson led 54-44 with possession, but a SLU defensive stop ignited a Billiken rally.
• McMahan netted seven points on three straight possessions, capped by a 3-pointer, to make it 54-51 Davidson with 5:13 left.
• It was 56-53 following two McMahan free throws at the 3:54 mark. Following a scoring drought for both teams, Frantz made a free throw with 42 seconds left to make it 56-54.
• Two from the stripe with eight seconds remaining doubled the Davidson lead. Frantz’s fifth 3-pointer sliced the margin to one, but the Wildcats converted twice from the line for the final score.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Saint Louis has made seven or more 3-pointers in three of its last four games.
• Jordyn Frantz moved into third place on SLU’s all-time single-season list for 3-pointers (71).
• Kerri McMahan has scored in double figures in six of the last nine games, averaging 9.7 points during that stretch.
• Brooke Flowers blocked three shots to lift her season total to 57, good for third place on SLU’s single-season list.
