Ambush End Year With 11-5 Loss To Milwaukee

The St. Louis Ambush closed out the 2018 calendar year with an 11-5 loss to the Milwaukee Wave Monday afternoon at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. The loss dropped the Ambush record to 3-4 on the season, while the Wave remained the only undefeated team in the MASL at 4-0.

The opening stanza concluded with a 1-1 score as each team posted a restart goal, with Mario Marcos scoring for St. Louis and Marcio Leite for Milwaukee. Drew Ruggles scored the lone tally in the second quarter to give the Wave a 2-1 lead at halftime.

The wheels came off the bus for the Ambush in the third quarter, as the Wave scored five unanswered goals to make the score 7-1 heading into the final frame. The damage came from Guilherme Veiga, Ian Bennett, Isaac Pereyra and two from Robert Renaud.

The Ambush staged a comeback in the fourth quarter, scoring four goals, including three in a row, but the Wave matched them with four of their own to maintain the lead and post an 11-5 win. Max Ferdinand, Drew Ruggles, Renaud and Pereyra were the scorers for the Wave, while Zach Reget, Justin Stinson, Douglas Dos Santos and Clayton scored for the Ambush.

Milwaukee outshot St. Louis 29-15 in the contest. In goal, Josh Lemos made five saves in nine save attempts (.556) in remaining undefeated and posting his fourth win of the season. Paulo made 12 saves in 23 save attempts (.522) for the Ambush and finished the game with a 2-2 record on the season.

The Ambush return home to the Family Arena when they host the Florida Tropics for the first time this season next Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 7:05 p.m. CT.
