THE BASICS

• Kendra Wilken scored a career- and game-high 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting to lead Saint Louis to a fourth consecutive season-opening victory, 70-43 over Eastern Kentucky, Friday at EKU’s McBrayer Arena.

• Wilken, who also matched her career high of six rebounds, was joined in double figures byCiaja Harbison (17 points, including 7-of-7 FT) and Jordyn Frantz (12 points). Frantz pulled down a career- and game-high nine rebounds.

• Harbison grabbed six rebounds, tied Kerri McMahan for game-high honors with four assists and registered a game-high three steals. Evan Zars had a game-high three blocks.

FIRST QUARTER

• Eastern Kentucky had two 4-point leads, the second one a 13-9 edge with 4:49 left.

• Saint Louis outscored the Colonels 14-4 the rest of the quarter for a 23-17 lead. The Billikens went in front for good, 19-17, with 2:12 remaining when Frantz connected on her second 3-pointer just 31 seconds after burying her first.

SECOND QUARTER

• SLU posted its first double-digit lead, 31-21, at the 3:56 mark.

• EKU tallied the next five points to cut the lead in half. But the Billikens closed the quarter on an 8-0 run, with Wilken scoring the first six points, and took a 39-26 cushion to the locker room.

SECOND HALF

• Eastern Kentucky drew no closer than 12 points the rest of the way. Saint Louis finished the third period with a 14-0 flurry, including eight straight points from Wilken, for a 58-32 lead.

• The margin remained above 20, and the final spread of 27 points was the Billikens’ largest lead of the game.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

• Saint Louis shot 50 percent (25-of-50) from the floor overall, including 57.5 percent (23-of-40) in 2-point attempts.

• The Billikens earned a 45-26 advantage on the boards and outscored the Colonels 42-14 in the paint and 18-5 from the free throw line.

• SLU limited EKU to 30.2 percent (16-of-53) from the floor.

• Amber Lindfors just missed scoring in double figures, finishing with nine points in her Saint Louis debut.
