Denver’s Andre Shinyashiki struck twice to add to his NCAA-leading goal total and lift the 11th-ranked Pioneers to a 2-1 victory over the visiting Saint Louis Billikens on Tuesday in nonconference men’s soccer action at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium.
Saint Louis falls to 5-3-6, while Denver improves to 12-2-2.
John Klein scored the Billikens’ goal in the 55th minute off assists from Anthony Brown and Leo Novaes. It was Klein’s team-leading seventh goal of the season.
For Denver, it was all Shinyashiki, who now has an NCAA-leading 24 goals on the year. He opened the scoring in the 55th minute on a PK, then tallied the game-winning goal in the 84th minute.
Saint Louis is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 27, when it hosts George Washington at Hermann Stadium for a 2 p.m. kick. The Billikens will honor their seniors prior to the match as part of their Senior Day celebration.
