by Press Release

The St. Louis Surge announced following the 2018 season that they have released Head Coach Tony Condra and opened the position for hire. The team also announced Assistant Coach Gabriella Green has been relieved of her duties.

“After careful consideration, this decision did not come easy, but a necessary step the franchise must take to grow and improve,” said Surge Owner and General Manager, Khalia Collier. “On behalf of the entire organization, we thank Tony for everything he has done for the program and wish him nothing but the best in the future. Without question, he was instrumental in creating the identity and winning culture of the team and we will forever share great memories of all his accomplishments as head coach.”

Condra, after serving as an Assistant Coach in 2013, was named the third Head Coach in Surge history in April of 2014. He posted a 62-9 win-loss record. Under him, the team was named National Champions in 2014 and 2016, and it was National Runner-Up in 2015, 2017, and 2018. He was the longest tenured coach in team history and the franchise’s all-time winningest coach.

Collier said she plans to evaluate the roster and team as a whole and make assessments for future growth. The team will continue the evaluation process and begin a national search for coaching candidates.
