Redbirds Lose to Round Rock, 4-2

MEMPHIS, Tennessee – The first-place Memphis Redbirds (76-49) were 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left 10 on base in a 4-2 loss to the Round Rock Express (Rangers) Saturday night at AutoZone Park.

Memphis had 12 hits in the game, at least one by each player, but only pushed across the pair of runs. Trailing 3-1, the Redbirds had the tying run at first with no outs in the bottom of the seventh but were retired three-straight times, and the tying run came to the plate in the bottom of the ninth with Memphis behind 4-2, but a flyout ended the contest.

Tommy EdmanMax Schrock, and Adolis Garcia had a pair of knocks, with Edman extending his hitting streak to six-straight, with four of them being two-hit contests. He also scored both Memphis runs in the game.

Schrock had an RBI double in the bottom of the ninth in his first game back off the Disabled List to make the score 4-2, but Carson Kelly flew out to end the game.

Kevin Herget started and allowed three runs on six hits in 6.1 innings. Rehabbing John Brebbia allowed a home run in the eighth that made the score 4-2 in favor of the Express.

Carlos Perez was 4-for-4 with a double for Round Rock.
