Redbirds Roughed Up by Grizzlies

MEMPHIS, Tennessee – The Fresno Grizzlies (65-49) opened a 12-0 lead against the first-place Memphis Redbirds (71-43) and roared to a 12-3 win Monday night at AutoZone Park.

The Grizzlies slugged four home runs in the game, including a grand slam, two three-run homers, and a two-run shot, and led 12-0 after five-and-a-half innings.

Rangel Ravelo and Lane Thomas extended their hitting streaks in the game, with Ravelo’s reaching 12 games after he went 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBI, and Thomas moving his to all eight games he has played with the Redbirds after going 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored. He has an extra-base hit in five-straight contests.

Chris Ellis took the loss after allowing eight runs on seven hits in 5.0 innings. Brett Cecil tossed a perfect inning of relief on an injury rehab assignment.
