Redbirds, Cubs Suspended After Four Innings with Memphis Leading 3-1

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Memphis Redbirds and Iowa Cubs were suspended due to rain after the fourth inning Saturday night in Des Moines, Iowa, and will finish the contest tomorrow afternoon starting at 1:08 with a seven-inning third game of the series to follow.

Memphis led 3-1 before the suspension, with Luke Voit tripling home a run and Tyler O’Neill hitting his 19th home run of the season in the first inning. O’Neill has homered four times in the last five games.

Jake Woodford allowed one run on three hits with six strikeouts and a walk in 4.0 innings.

After tomorrow’s resumption of game two and the seven-inning game three, the Redbirds and Cubs play twice more before Memphis returns to AutoZone Park on Wednesday for the 4th of July Celebration, presented by AutoZone.
