Summer Ball Heats-Up For Billikens

by SLU Baseball

The end of the Saint Louis Baseball season indicates the start of summer league baseball across the country as several college players embark on their journey to continue to play through the summer months. The Billikens are no different as 13 players from the 2018 team have signed-on with a team for the summer.

Perhaps the most well-known of these leagues, the famed Cape Cod Baseball League, will feature a pair of Billikens as Jackson Wark will see time with the Chatham Anglers while Ryan Lefner will play for the Cotuit Kettleers.

The Cape Cod league is one of the oldest in existence and has been around since 1885. In 1985, it became the first collegiate summer league to transition to wood bats.

The Coastal Plains League, known as among the top wood bat summer leagues in the United States, will be home to four Billikens this summer and will have the biggest representation from the boys of midtown. Most of which will be playing for the Florence Redwolves. Cole Dubet, Luke Sommerfeld and Jake Garella will all call Florence, South Carolina home while right-handed hurler Charlie Sheehan will play for the Wilson Tobs in Wilson, North Carolina.

The lone player to stay in the Saint Louis area is Braxton Stowe. The junior from Hamilton, Bermuda will play in the St. Louis Metro League for the Rebels.

Connor Lehmann, Drew Reveno, Colin Townsend, Ben Livorsi, Griffin Robinson and Zach Frieling will also play this summer in various leagues across the country. The full list of summer baseball participants and their team is located below.
