by

SAUGET, IL–The River City Rascals beat the rival Gateway Griizzlies once again on Wednesday night, this time by a score of 5-2. They now lead the series 2-0. Josh Kimborowicz (1-0) was stellar in his first Rascals win, going seven innings, allowing four hits, two runs (one earned), while walking three and striking out eight. Paul Kronenfeld and Clint Freeman led the Rascals with three hits each.

The Rascals put up three runs in the top of the first thanks to a two-run double from Kronenfeld, and then an RBI single up the middle from Clint Freeman. They tacked on another run in the third on an RBI single from Gerrion Grim.

The Grizzlies responded with a run in the fifth after Brennan Morgan scored on a throwing error to third base by Rascals catcher Mike Jurgella, and another run in the seventh on a solo shot to right field from Johnathan Piron.

Clint Freeman put the Rascals back up by three with a home run to right field in the top of the eighth, his third blast of the season.

Joe Iorio pitched a lock-down eighth and closer Cody Mincey earned his fifth save out of the Rascals bullpen.

Kronenfeld finished the night with two doubles and two runs scored, and Freeman finished with two RBIs and two stolen bases.

The Rascals (11-5) look for the sweep over the Grizzlies (7-10) tomorrow night at GCS Ballpark, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm CT. Dan Ludwig is expected to start for the Rascals, in his fourth start of the season.
