Redbirds Win 10th Game in Last 12

by

MEMPHIS, Tennessee – The Memphis Redbirds (33-20) won for the 10th time in their last 12 games, 3-2 over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Brewers) Tuesday afternoon at AutoZone Park, to complete a 7-2 homestand.

Patrick Wisdom was 2-for-4 and extended his hitting streak to 14 games, matching his career long, and Preston Guilmet picked up his Pacific Coast League-leading 11th save of the season. Kevin Herget turned in the 10th-straight quality start by a Redbirds starter, picking up the win after allowing two runs on four hits in 6.0 innings.

The game was tied at 1 until Colorado Springs plated a run in the top of the sixth for a 2-1 lead that only lasted through that half-inning. With one out in the bottom of the sixth, Wisdom singled, moved to second on a Luke Voitsingle, and scored on a Wilfredo Tovar knock. After a force-out moved Voit to third, he then scampered home on a wild pitch to give Memphis a 3-2 lead.

From there, the Memphis bullpen locked in and tossed 3.0 scoreless innings to finish the ballgame, with Guilmet getting the final four outs for his 11th save.

In the Redbirds’ four wins against the Sky Sox, they surrendered just three runs and had two shutouts.

The Redbirds head to New Orleans for five games before returning home for seven contests against Tacoma and Reno starting next Tuesday. For more information on single-game tickets and ticket mini-memberships, visitwww.memphisredbirds.com.
