Redbirds Fire on All Cylinders in 4-0 Win

by

MEMPHIS, Tennessee – Dakota Hudson tossed 8.0 innings, striking out a career-high nine and giving up just four hits, and Rangel Ravelo and Patrick Wisdom homered in a 4-0 Memphis Redbirds (30-20) win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Brewers) Saturday night at AutoZone Park.

Hudson dazzled in his 8.0 innings, matching a career high in innings and setting a new career best with the nine punch-outs. He only issued one walk, and he retired six-straight and seven-in-a-row at points during the game. He gave way to Edward Mujica, who pitched a perfect ninth inning to seal the win, with two strikeouts.

The game was deadlocked until the bottom of the sixth, when the Redbirds broke through for three runs with two coming on a Ravelo long-ball. After Ravelo’s second homer of the year, Wisdom walked, stole second, and scored on a throwing error to make it 3-0 Redbirds.

Wisdom added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth with his seventh home run of the year. He finished 2-for-3 and extended his hitting streak to 11 games. Oscar Mercado also had two hits for Memphis.

The game started after a 31-minute rain delay.

The Redbirds’ nine-game homestand continues tomorrow night at 6:35, with the game featuring postgame fireworks, and runs through Tuesday against Colorado Springs (Brewers). For more information on single-game tickets and ticket mini-memberships, visit www.memphisredbirds.com.
