King Powers Way To Weekly A-10 Award

Senior shortstop Alex King was named the Co-Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on Monday after a big four-game week at the plate.

The native of Lenexa, Kan., did it all of the Billikens. He finished with a .462 batting average with three doubles, four RBI and two home runs. Overall on the week, the shortstop racked-up a 1.154 slugging percentage, which helped vault him to the award in the final week of the season.

King’s power numbers have been impressive in 2018 as he has set a new career mark for home runs in a season with 13. He hit two in the game on Thursday against George Washington, tying a career high for home runs in a single game.

King finished the season with a .284 batting average heading into the Atlantic 10 Championship, set to begin on Wednesday, May 23 in Arlington, Va. The Billikens will get their first action on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. CDT when they face the winner of No. 4 Richmond and No. 5 Davidson.

Four different position players have now earned Atlantic 10 weekly honors. King joins Parker SniatynskiNick Reeserand Jake Garella as winners throughout the season. He also joins starting pitchers Miller Hogan and Jackson Wark, who took home Pitcher of the Week honors. Hogan is the lone player to have earned the award twice for Saint Louis this season.
