MEMPHIS, Tennessee – The Memphis Redbirds (17-8) could not get anything going offensively and lost the series opener to the Oklahoma City Dodgers (Dodgers) Monday night at AutoZone Park, 6-0.

In a matchup of the top two teams in all of Triple-A Baseball, the Dodgers outhit the Redbirds, 11-4, and hit two home runs. All of Memphis’ hits came via singles.

Despite Monday’s loss, Memphis finished the month with its most April wins in franchise history at 17. The 17 victories topped the 2000 club’s 16 at the end of the season’s opening month.

Kevin Herget allowed two runs on five hits in 3.0 innings, and Andrew Morales followed and struck out six in 3.0 innings while surrendering three earned runs. Arturo Reyes and Edward Mujica finished the game out of the Memphis bullpen.

Eight of the nine Dodgers position players had at least one hit, and three had two hits apiece. The home runs came from Travis Taijeron and Jake Peter.

Memphis and Oklahoma City continue their four-game series tomorrow night at 6:35. After Thursday’s series finale, which concludes a nine-game homestand for the Redbirds, the club hits the road for eight games at Nashville and Oklahoma City.
