Billikens Win Streak Reaches Six After Doubleheader Sweep

SAINT LOUIS – [GAME 1 BOX] [GAME 2 BOXSaint Louis Baseball finished off a very productive series against Oakland with two big wins. The Billikens posted a 6-4 victory in game one before grabbing a dominant 8-0 win in game two.

Saint Louis (7-7) put together a pair of impressive wins as the offense, yet again, jumped all over Oakland pitching. In game one, the offense pounced in the bottom of the fourth.

The Billikens ran into trouble in the second inning as Ronnie Krsolovic provided the only runs for the Golden Grizzlies. The first baseman tripled into the gap in left center to clear the bases and give the visitors a 3-0 lead

Saint Louis responded in the fourth. Jake Garella singled to lead-off the inning before Carter Hanford provided the first two runs for the Billikens with his first home run of the year to cut the deficit to 3-2.

After a bases loaded walk to Alex King tied the game at three, Parker Sniatynski broke the game open with a three-RBI double to give the Billikens a 6-3 lead.

The Golden Grizzlies got one back before Ryan Lefner shut the door in the end. The junior grabbed his third save of the season in 1.2 innings of work.

Drew Reveno entered the game in the second inning and grabbed his second win of the year. The junior from San Jose, Calif., went three and a third innings and allowed just two hits with four strikeouts to his credit.

In game two, Jackson Wark got his third win of the year as the Billikens blanked the Golden Grizzlies 8-0. The junior from St. Albert, Alberta went five full innings and allowed just two hits with five strikeouts.

James Morisano led the team with two hits in the second game with three RBI. The Billiken backstop hit .417 and slugged .750 over the course of the series.

Aaron Patton saw his first work of the year in game one of the day. The senior lefty allowed one hit in his short outing.

The Billikens will have a rare Sunday off before getting back to action against Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on Tuesday at home. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at the Billiken Sports Center.
