DAVIDSON, N.C. – Saint Louis let a double digit lead slip away Wednesday in a 54-51 loss at Davidson in Atlantic Conference men’s basketball action at Belk Arena.

SLU falls to 7-8 overall and 0-2 in league play. Davidson improves to 6-7, 1-1 in the A-10.

The Billikens led by 11 at halftime, but Davidson shot 56.5 percent in the second half to rally back.

Davell Roby led Saint Louis with 11 points and seven rebounds. Jalen Johnson added nine points, while Hasahn French had eight points.

Davidson jumped out to an early six-point advantage, only to see SLU battle make to grab the lead midway through the first half. A 9-0 run late in the first half helped SLU take an 11-point lead, 33-22, into halftime.

The Wildcats came out of halftime hot, hitting two quick 3-pointers to begin chipping away at their deficit.

A jumper by Javon Bess at the 11:15 mark gave the Billikens a 47-41 lead, but that would be their last field goal of the game as Davidson took advantage down the stretch.

Trailing by three in the final seconds, French rebounded a Bess miss off a free throw to give the Billikens a glimmer a hope. SLU had two chances on 3s, but both were off the mark and Davidson escaped with the win.

SLU is back in action Saturday night, hosting Richmond at Chaifetz Arena in a 7 p.m. tip.
