The undefeated St. Louis Surge women’s professional basketball franchise activates their home campaign this Saturday in a 7 p.m. meeting with the Iowa Force at the newly-renovated Washington University Field House and sparks will surely commence.

The Surge, the defending national champions of the Women’s Blue Chip Basketball League (WBCBL), are currently 4-0 following Sunday’s 90-69 road win over the Midwest Flyers and have won seven straight WBCBL games, dating back to last year’s post-season trophy trifecta.

The 21-point victory over the Flyers pushed St. Louis to the top of the four-team WBCBL Midwest Division standings.

Through four games, five Surge players currently average double-digits, paced by veteran guard Rebecca Harris’ 19.5 points per game clip. Guard Leah Cotton (15 PPG) scored a dozen points in Sunday’s win over the Flyers.

Six-foot-plus Surge newcomers Kristi Bellock (13 PPG) and Patrice Butler (11 PPG) have each launched successful rookie campaigns while returnee Michala Johnson (11 PPG) has been extremely consistent.

Beyond that quintet, St. Louis possesses a plethora of weapons. 2017 addition Krysten Crawford has converted 8-of-18 three-point attempts while Jordan Jones is second in the team in assists (13). Veterans Jaleesa Butler, Tori Waldner and Bianca Latham have provide solid minutes and points while rookie Leti Lerma and Sherise Williams have complimented nicely to the Surge schematic.

The Iowa Force (0-2) are paced offensively by five-foot guard Annessa Rosch’s 15 point average followed by 6-2 forward Tia Mays’ 11-point clip.

The Surge defeated the Force, 107-59, at their WBCBL season opener in Des Moines on May 20 and plan to “power up” at their home opener in their continued quest of back-to-back national championships.

Tickets at the door are $10 for adults and $8 for students with middle, high school or collegiate ID while children five and under are free.

Saturday’s contest begins a five-game home campaign. The Surge’s “season ticket package” that includes VIP chair back seating, access to the team’s hospitality suite with free food on game nights, exclusive admission to a pair of franchise parties and other benefits, are $100 and available at this link.
