Surge Basketball Improves To 4-0 With Sunday Road Victory

by Brian Ledford

(ELSBERRY, MO) The St. Louis Surge women’s professional basketball team improved to 4-0 on the season following Sunday’s 90-69 road victory over the Midwest Flyers at Elsberry High School.

The Surge, the defending national champions of the Women’s Blue Chip Basketball League (WBCBL), have won seven straight WBCBL games, dating back to last year’s post-season trophy trifecta.

The 21-point duke over the Flyers (5-2) pushed St. Louis to the top of the five-team WBCBL Midwest Division standings.

Trailing 18-16 after the first quarter, the Flyers outscored the Surge, 18-14, in the second frame and possessed a 34-32 lead at halftime.

The third quarter saw St. Louis pick up the pace offensively and produce a 25-16 stanza that resulted in the Surge holding a 57-50 heading into the final quarter.

Down the stretch, St. Louis widened the differential with solid execution from the charity stripe. The Surge outscored the Flyers, 33-19, resulting in the 90-69 road triumph that kept the team’s record spotless.

With their undefeated road schedule now concluded, the Surge launches their home campaign this upcoming weekend at their new local venue, Washington University’s Field House. St. Louis’ Saturday 7 p.m. game versus Iowa Force (0-2) begins a stretch of four WBCBL-sanctioned games and five overall.

Season tickets, which includes VIP chair back seating, access to the Surge’s hospitality suite with free food on game nights, exclusive admission to a pair of Surge parties and other benefits, are $100 and available at this link.

Individual game tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students with middle, high school or collegiate ID while children five and under are free.
