Grizzlies’ Homers Not Enough; Normal Sweeps Series

by

The Grizzlies picked up two big solo home runs in the ballgame from Evan Rogers and Blake Brown, but were unable to put together any more offense. FINAL: Normal 5, Grizzlies 2.

Normal stretched out their small two run lead in the top of the sixth inning. Jacoby Middleton laced a first pitch single over the head of Garrett Mattlage to bring in two more runs and stretch their lead out to 5-1.

Normal added it’s first three runs, one by one through the odd innings of 1, 3, and 5.

Grizzlies were held scoreless until the fourth inning when Blake Brown crushed his fourth home run of the season over the right field wall. Grizzlies added one more in the sixth with a solo home run by Evan Rogers, which cut the Cornbelters lead to three.

Unfortunately for Gateway, their offense could not match up to Normal as they were held scoreless through the final three innings.

Grizzlies hurler Dylan Craig picked up the loss. In a little under five innings pitched, Craig gave up three runs on six hits, walked four, and struck out three.

The Grizzlies will look to bounce back as they begin a three-game series against the River City Rascals on Fridaynight. The Grizzlies right hander Will Landsheft is expected to start his third game of the season. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
