Breaking Down Dexter Fowler’s Contract

On December 8th, the St. Louis Cardinals signed CF Dexter Fowler to a five-year, $82.5 million deal. He is signed through 2021.

He will make $14.5m annually in salary.

In addition, he got a $10m signing bonus that will be paid in $1m installments twice a year through his contract (On July 1st & Oct 1st).

Award Bonuses:

$250,000 for MVP ($150,000 for 2nd place in MVP vote… $100,000 for 3rd-5th place in vote)

$150,000 for World Series MVP

$100,000 for LCS MVP

$50,000 for LDS MVP

$50,000 if he is an All-Star

$50,000 if he earns a Gold Glove

$25,000 for Silver Slugger

Full no-trade clause.
