BILLIKEN NOTABLES
Sunday’s contest was Saint Louis’ annual “Kicks Against Breast Cancer” game. The Billikens wore pink jerseys.
Saint Louis is tied with Saint Joseph’s for second place in the A-10. Duquesne (4-0) leads the league.
With their 10th win, the Billikens have registered a double-digit victory total for the first time since the 2008 team won 11 games.
With six conference games remaining, SLU already has surpassed the number of A-10 wins it registered all of last year.
The Billikens improved to 6-0-0 at Hermann Stadium this season.
Saint Louis scored four goals vs. an A-10 opponent for the first time since winning 4-0 at Xavier on Oct. 9, 2009. The last time the Bills scored four times vs. a league opponent at home was one week earlier in a 4-0 win over Massachusetts.
The shutout was Saint Louis’ – and goalkeeper Mary Niehaus’ (three saves) – sixth of the season overall and second in a row.
Saint Louis has allowed just two goals over its last five games.
The win was the Billikens’ first against George Mason, which entered the game with a 3-0 series lead.
Saint Louis’ 16-8 advantage in shots included an 11-2 count in the second half.
The Billikens were not issued a yellow card, remaining the only A-10 women’s soccer team without a caution this season.
•Kirsten Clemens’ two-goal effort was the first multi-goal game of her Billiken career and increased her season total to four goals. Clemens has 17 career goals, tying Christie Cigno (2002-03) for 10th on SLU’s all-time list.
