The final match of the 2016 USL regular season between OKC Energy FC and Saint Louis FC was full of surprises, records and disappointments. Taft Stadium witnessed the sixth draw in history of showdown of these two clubs and despite of many scoring chances and estimable score 2:2, the game became a disappointment for Saint Louis FC fans who wanted to see a spectacular victory of their team.

stlfc1Still, fans of St Louis FC come up smiling and are ready to support their club by every means. For example, official fans of club, St.Louligans raised $10,000 this season during their annual Charity Du Jour program. Over the last two years fans have managed to raise more than $25,000 aimed for one big charity affair and several small ones, for example, $6640 transformed into 26,560 meals for hard ups.

A very beginning of match was marked by a new record for Energy FC: a pass from Michael Byskov to Timo Pitter resulted in the quickest goal in history of OKC – 18 seconds after the starting whistle, a result worth be proud for! This game has brought another record for Energy: it was the 13th draw of the club in the season and it is a new USL record.

Author of the first St. Louis goal, Shiloh Tshuma, scored twenty minutes later after ball bounded toward the arc with Jamiel Hardware’s shot.  After 3 minutes David Tyler doubled score infusing fans with hope for the victory. It is his first goal in  professional season. But on the 26th minute Michael Thomas and Danni König wrapped up the second shot for OKC, and as a result, game finished with 2:2 score. The first half of game was also marked by a yellow card for Jordan Roberts for a high boot at midfield.

One of the possible reasons of St. Louis failure can be an absence of two notable players – James Musa, who was under red card suspension and injured captain Chad Bond.

However, it is obvious that Tim Leonard, interim Head Coach of the club, who have taken up the post on August 15th, 2016, had not much time to get the most of the team’s possibilities, though, football players did all they can to win.

With the end of the season 2016 the team starts the preparation for the next season aiming to catch up the best possible results.
