Willie McGee to visit Gateway Grizzlies on opening day May 13

Opening day for the Gateway Grizzlies on May 13th is a night all baseball fans want on their calendar. Former St. Louis Cardinal Willie McGee will visit Sauget, Ill. for a special appearance. The longtime Cardinal, McGee, will be participating in special events throughout the night.

For $100, fans can purchase a special VIP ticket that includes an all-inclusive suite ticket. The VIP ticket also includes a meet and greet with McGee, a 30 minute Q&A session, a commemorative photo opportunity, a guaranteed autograph (one per ticket) and an all-you-can-eat buffet and unlimited beverages until the end of the seventh inning.

All season ticket holders and corporate partners will have the first option to purchase tickets starting Wednesday, March 16th. VIP tickets for the general public will go on sale Monday, March 21st at 9 a.m.

McGee is one of the most beloved figures in Cardinals history, spending most of his18 years in the major leagues in a Cardinal uniform. He was the National League Most Valuable Player in 1985 and won two league batting titles. A four-time All-Star, McGee also won three Gold Gloves and played in three World Series with the Cardinals. During his rookie season, he turned in one of the greatest games in the franchise’s post-season history in Game Three in 1982 when he hit two home runs and also made a home run-saving catch in centerfield.

McGee was recognized for his accomplishments by becoming part of the inaugural class elected to the Cardinals Hall of Fame in 2014.

The Grizzlies will take on the Washington Wild Things on opening night in the first of the three game series. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. Tickets start as low as $10 and the game will be followed by a fireworks display.
