The Men’s Roller Derby Association (MRDA) recently released its latest set of international rankings and, with the reveal, St. Louis claimed a high seed for next month’s championship tournament.
GateKeepers Roller Derby maintained its #2 position in the MRDA rankings and will have the second seed for “River City Rumble,” held October 17 & 18 at Midwest Sport Hockey in Ballwin, MO.
In the ten-team bracketed tournament, St. Louis (11-1) will face the winner of a quarterfinal qualifier between seventh-seeded Bridgetown (Portland, OR) and tenth-seeded Twin Cities (Minneapolis, MN) on Saturday, October 17 at 5 p.m.
Since the MRDA began tournament play four years ago, the GateKeepers have finished as high as second place twice (2012 and 2014).
Three-time defending MRDA Champ, Your Mom Men’s Derby (Des Moines, IA), retained rank and will be the top seed at “River City Rumble.”
Two quarterfinal play-in games take place on Saturday, October 17 and will be followed by the four quarterfinal contests. The quartet of winning teams advance to Sunday’s semifinals and the event’s third place and championship games conclude the two-day title tilt.
Others competing at the MRDA 2015 Championships include teams from New York, Texas, Seattle, Jacksonville (FL), San Diego, and London, UK.
