Saint Louis University experienced the 10th-largest attendance increase in NCAA Division I women’s basketball last season, according to a report released today by the NCAA.

The Billikens played 13 games at Chaifetz Arena in 2014-15 and drew an average of 1,319 spectators, an increase of 854 from their 2013-14 average of 465. In addition to giving SLU the 10th-largest increase in Division I, the 1,319 average ranked second in the 14-team Atlantic 10 Conference.

Saint Louis twice set a home attendance mark last season. After seeing 3,920 fans walk through the turnstiles for the Jan. 24 game against Fordham, the Billikens welcomed a school-record crowd of 7,184 – also a season high for A-10 women’s basketball – for their Feb. 21 game against George Mason.

“I’m so very proud of our program, and I’m very grateful to our administration for the way they have marketed and promoted Billiken women’s basketball,” head coach Lisa Stone said. “The hard work of our administrative team is truly amazing. We look forward to continuing to grow our attendance as we build a championship culture at SLU.”
