Surge Dominant In 103-56 Win Over Arch Angels

(CLAYTON, MO) The St. Louis Surge improved to 2-1 in the Women’s Blue Chip Basketball League (WBCBL) with a 103-56 victory over Missouri Arch Angels Saturday night at Fontbonne University.

The 47-point win pushed the Surge into a two-way tie for second place in the WBCBL Mid-West Division standings.

surge600x400The defending WBCBL national champion controlled the game from the onset and posted a 35-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. Scoring was tighter in the second, but the Surge outscored the Arch Angels, 17-14, in the frame and possessed a 52-21 advantage at intermission.

St. Louis kept the momentum rolling in the second half and sported a 76-37 lead at the conclusion of the third quarter.

The Surge widened the final differential by outscoring Missouri in the fourth quarter, 27-19.

St. Louis is idle next weekend and continues WBCBL play on Saturday, June 6 against Mid-West Division-leading Illinois Shooting Stars (3-1) at the Jackie Joyner Kersee Center in East St. Louis, Illinois.

2015 home openerThe Surge’s “Home Town Opener” will be held Saturday, June 13 at UMSL’s Mark Twain Center against the Nebraska Strikers. Tickets for the 7:05 p.m. tip off are $8 for adults, $5 for students (with college/school ID) and free for both children five and under and for youth teams that attend in their team’s basketball uniforms.
