by Brian Ledford

After seeing its 11-game winning streak snapped over the past weekend, the St. Louis Surge women’s professional basketball franchise returns to the hard court this Saturday, looking to launch a new victorious run.

The Surge faces the Missouri Arch Angels this Saturday at 7 p.m. at Fontbonne University in Clayton (6800 Wydown Blvd.) Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for children.

St. Louis (1-1) saw its 11-game winning streak in the Women’s Blue Chip Basketball League (WBCBL) halted this past Sunday with a 99-96 road setback to the Minnesota Black Ice.

The defending WBCBL National Champion faces a Mid-West Division rival that posted a recent victory against the Minnesota squad that snapped the aforementioned winning streak.

The Arch Angels (1-1) defeated the Black Ice Saturday, 76-73, to claim its first victory of the season.

Nikki Lawrence, Suzanne Grossnickle and Kayla Dampier are each averaging 13 points through two games.

Possessing identical 1-1 records, both desire upward trajectory in the WBCBL Mid-West Division’s hierarchy on Saturday.
