Third Round Draft Pick OL Jamon Brown Conference Call

by Press Release

(On how he’s feeling after being drafted)
“I’m feeling like, I don’t even know how to explain it man. I just feel excited.”

(On if he had any indications prior to being picked if the Rams were interested in him)
“I felt like they had an interest man, but I really couldn’t pinpoint who wanted me. Obviously, had to wait until I was picked to find out who really liked me.”

(On if he was surprised to be picked at this point in the draft)
“I mean, honestly I’m just appreciative that I have the opportunity. I didn’t really know when I was going, but I was just waiting there as any player would do just waiting for the phone to ring. I’m grateful that the phone rang when it did.”

(On his pre-draft visit with the Rams being here with Saints OL Andrus Peat and Raiders WR Amari Cooper)
“I got spend a little time with those guys. Those are good guys and great football players. The visit up there, I had fun. Got to fellowship and meet some of the coaches up there. (Head) Coach (Jeff) Fisher I felt we really connected and (Offensive Line Coach Paul T. Boudreau) Coach ‘Bou’ the offensive line coach I felt that we could work well together. I’m just grateful that they chose me.”

(On if Lions OL Laken Tomlinson was in St. Louis on his pre-draft visit as well)
“Yeah, Laken he was there. Got to mix and mingle with him too.”

(On if during his visit he viewed the other offensive lineman as competition)
“I mean, yeah most definitely the competitive side of you always comes out. When you see guys that play your position or guys that can potentially be in front of you, you kind of get that competitive edge. So, most definitely have that competitive side in me.”

(On if he can see himself fitting in as a guard in the NFL)
“I mean at this point I can’t make any predictions. I’ll just play wherever they ask me to play whether it’s inside or out. I just really want try to help the organization any way I can. If that means play guard, I’ll play guard. If that means play tackle, I’ll play tackle. So, we’ll see.”

(On if the Rams talked to him about playing offensive guard)
“We haven’t really gotten into details with that. So, like I said we’ll see.”

(On the other teams he had a pre-draft visit with)
“I had pre-draft visits to Washington, Denver and Detroit.”

(On if he began his career at Louisville as a defensive tackle)
“Yes I did.”

(On what prompted his move from the defensive side of the ball to the offensive side)
“I mean, we had some injuries and (Former Louisville Head) Coach (Charlie) Strong asked me if I wanted to change over to O-line. He said it was completely up to me, but I just really wanted to play so, I made the switch. It worked well for me. So, I’m glad I made the switch.”

(On if he was getting any snaps at defensive tackle)
“Yeah, I got a little time. Obviously, I wasn’t a starter or anything, but I had played a little bit. I felt that once I switched to offensive line I could play as much as I want once I got over to that position and that’s what ended up happening.”

(On if he has any children)
“I have a daughter.”

(On the age of his daughter)
“She’s two years old.”

(On the name of his daughter)
“Micayla.”

(On if Micayla was excited that he was drafted)
“Yeah, she was crying and screaming. She doesn’t really know why everybody’s hollering and screaming and so excited, but she was having her little two cents in.”

(On where he watched the draft)
“I’m actually with my family right now. We’re kind of having a sit-down draft watch kind of cookout thing at my house in Louisville, KY.”

(On how he sees himself fitting into the Rams’ offense)
“I see myself fitting in pretty well. I mean, they run the ball well and I think I’m a pretty good run blocker and I think I can be a guy that can help make the running game dynamic. In terms when we set-up and pass I think I’ll be a pretty good pass blocker to help whatever we need to have done. I think I can help the offense move forward.”
