Grizzlies Acquire Two Arms At Frontier League Draft

by Press Release
The Gateway Grizzlies selected a pair of right-handed pitchers at the Frontier League draft earlier this week in Avon, Ohio. Grizzlies’ ninth-year manager Phil Warren selected Robbie Buller and Scott Harkin with his two draft picks.
Buller, 25, last pitched in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ organization. The Diamondbacks drafted Buller in the 2012 MLB Draft after he graduated from Houston Baptist University.
Harkin, a 23-year-old from Pleasant Hill, Calif., last pitched in the Milwaukee Brewers’ system. Harkin posted a 1.08 ERA in 13 appearances with the Brewers’ rookie-ball affiliate in 2013.
“These are both bullpen guys who are strike throwers and who have a legitimate shot at making this club,” Warren said. “It’s a good addition to our roster as we begin spring training,” he said.
The Grizzlies begin spring training on Friday, May 1. The team’s first pre-season exhibition at GCS Ballpark is on May 6 against the Southern Illinois Miners, with opening night of the regular season on May 15.
