Reloaded St. Louis SLAM Reveals Schedule, Season Ticket Plan

by Brian Ledford

A mantra has been floating within the St. Louis SLAM recently.

”Unfinished business.”

StLouisSlamFor the women’s professional tackle football team, it signals a return to the gridiron after a one-year hiatus. More importantly for the locals, it’s a friendly reminder that a legacy franchise is reloading.

St. Louis, a member of the 41-team Women’s Football Alliance (WFA), recently released its eight-game, regular season schedule, which includes four home contests.

The announcement was pretty significant for the team founded in 2003. The SLAM won the WFA National Championship in 2009 and reached the playoffs four times out of the last six WFA seasons, but last season did not compete, which was a bit of a blow for its fan base.

The SLAM will compete this season in the WFA’s American Conference – Midwest Region within the three-team Great Plains Division alongside the Kansas City Titans and the Minneapolis Machine.

A pair of April home contests springboards the calendar. The SLAM launches its season with an April 11 battle against division rival Minnesota. Two weekends later, St. Louis hosts region compatriot Tulsa.

Following road games at Kansas City and Minnesota, the SLAM returns home for a May 16 contest against National Conference rep Derby City Dynamite (Louisville, KY).
