Grizzlies Hammer Greys In Preseason Home Game

The Gateway Grizzlies cruised to a 10-3 win Friday night against the Frontier Greys in a scheduled 10-inning preseason game at GCS Ballpark.

The win was the Grizzlies second in a row in preseason play. Gateway has outscored theiropponent 20-6 in the two games.

Niko Vasquez, who homered Wednesday, started the Grizzlies scoring with a two-run double in the third inning. Ben Waldrip followed with a single that brought in two runs to make it 4-0.

Garrett Vail continued his hot hitting with an RBI single in the third inning to give the Grizzlies a 5-0 lead.

Gateway put up three runs in the fourth on a three-run home run from outfielder Richard Seigel.

Seigel added to his big game in the sixth inning with a two-run double to extend the advantage to 10-0. The Los Angeles, CA native finished the game 3-for-5 with five runs batted in.

Joe Rapp and Chris Ellison provided the only offense of the night for the Greys with a two-run home run and RBI single in the ninth inning.

Daniel Oliver started the game on the mound for Gateway and fired three scoreless innings. The right-hander allowed only one hit while striking out three. Of the 43 pitches he threw, 27 were strikes.

Jake Stephens and Oliver Van Zant pitched two scoreless innings each while Kolt Browder tossed one inning with no runs allowed.

Gateway is back in action Saturday night when they take on the Wichita Wingnuts of the American Association in their fourth preseason game at 7:05 at GCS Ballpark.
