Recently shared on social networks by SLU point guard Austin McBroom was a video, starring himself and a friend named Blake, entitled “Never Take Life for Granted”. It absolutely blew me away, and here is why:
Austin McBroom has been among my favorite players since the day I heard rumors of his transfer and this video just reinstates everything that made me like him in the first place. This work of mercy shows what it means to be a Billiken: not only excellence in the classroom, success on the court, but how to be a good human being. Thank you, Austin, for being such a good representation of our beloved school. Go Austin, and go Bills!
P.S. I know this post is nice and short, but please take the time to watch the video and share this everywhere. Acts like these are a nice contrast from the consistent arrests on the part of some neighboring schools (cough, Mizzou, cough). This video really brightened my day and motivated me to go out of my way for others, and hopefully by sharing this you can inspire others to do the same.
*Author’s Note: Recently I received notice that Austin was contacted by a social worker who told him that Michael had been taken from the streets and moved into a group home. His video attracted the attention of a man who once knew Michael and had helped him out before and took matters once step further and greatly increased this man’s chance of revival. Austin, I speak on the behalf of many when I say thank you.*
