by Press Release

Backed by a busload of faithful fans, the St. Louis Ambush made their final visit of the season to the Independence Events Center and recorded their highest point total of the regular season, but it still wasn’t enough as the Missouri Comets slipped by the Ambush 26-21 Saturday night (February 22).

Seven different Ambush players scored goals in the back and forth exchange between the two teams. Odaine Sinclair, Jake Bleyenberg and Mike Mesle each had two goals.  Kory Dowell, Jeff DiMaria, Chris Mattingly and Richard Schmermund each had a single tally.  Dowell, Mike Roach, DiMaria and Corey Adamson each earned an assist and Sinclair earned two.

For the Comets, Max Toulete, Milan Ivanovic, Bryan Perez, Alex Megson and Brian Harris each had a goal and Leo Gibson found the back of the net twice.  Stefan St. Louis, Ramone Palmer and Lucas Rodriguez each contributed an assist, while Gibson and Danny Waltman each earned two assists.

Waltman earned nine saves on 18 attempts in goal for Missouri.  Greg Crook made his MISL debut in goal for the Ambush and recorded 18 saves on 30 attempts. Missouri outshot St. Louis 38-18.

The Ambush, presented by Simmons First National Bank, and the Comets will meet one more time in the 2013-14 regular season when they square off next Thursday, February 27 at 7:35 p.m. at the Family Arena. That night has been designated Retro Night and will feature a Legends Game of former Ambush, Storm and Steamers players at halftime.  Current Ambush players will wear throwback jerseys from the 1992-94 St. Louis Ambush era when they clash with the Comets. Before the Ambush-Comets game, your St. Louis indoor soccer legends will be signing autographs from 6:30 to 7:15 on the concourse. Organist Jeremy Boyer will perform live throughout the evening. Live organ music was a staple of the Steamers games in the 1980′s. Boyer is a student of the legendary Ernie Hayes and is currently the organist for the St. Louis Blues and has played at Busch Stadium for the Cardinals. Following the February 27 home finale, the Ambush close out their inaugural season on the road when they visit U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee to square off with the WaveSaturday, March 1 at 6:00 p.m.
