Late Comeback Effort Falls Short in 6-3 Loss

by Press Release

The St. Charles Chill scored a pair of goals in the third period as they continued to battle despite a first period 3-1 and second period 6-1 deficit to the Brampton Beast.  The Chill controlled the action in the final frame, outshooting the Beast 15-4 but the comeback effort fell short by a final of 6-3.

St. Charles (9-24-5) poured on the pressure in the final period, getting a goal from Sean Muncy at the 4:20 mark, his second with the Chill, on assists from Justin Levac and Charles Lachance, who got the scoring started in the first period for St. Charles.

Brampton (19-16-3) took a first period lead with a pair of goals in the sixth minute before Lachance responded with a power play goal from Mike MacIntyre and Dan Weiss to close the gap to 2-1 midway through the period.  The Beast would respond with a power play goal with less than five minutes remaining in the opening frame to stretch their lead to 3-1.

The Beast added goals in the first, tenth, and final minutes of the second period to stretch their lead to 6-1, the last scored on rookie goalie Linus Lundin who would shut out the Beast in the last period when the Chill dominated play, setting up the rubber match of the three-game series in Brampton on Monday night at 6:00 p.m.  You can watch the game live at the official Away Game Watch Party at Mr. Lucky’s.

The Chill is back on home ice against the cross-state rival Missouri Mavericks on College Night, Wednesday, January 29th at 7:05.  Students with their college I.D. can get $10 lower level tickets complete with a free Chuck-A-Puck and a bag of Ramen noodles.  Hat Trick Draft Beers will be available throughout the concourse.  For group ticket packages, sponsorships, and more information on the St. Charles Chill visit StCharlesChill.com.
