In the first two games of four consecutive on the road, the St. Louis Ambush’s offense has gone dormant. The Ambush were shut out 16-0 by the Pennsylvania Roar Sunday afternoon in Reading, just two days after suffering a 14-2 loss to the Baltimore Blast Friday night.
It was the first win for the Roar, who improved their record to 1-11, while St. Louis sunk to 4-8. Roar forward Pete Rowley scored a goal in each of the first two quarters to give Pennsylvania a 4-0 lead at the half. In his first game with the Roar, former Wichita Wings forward Max Touloute increased the Roar’s lead to 6-0 off a restart, for the lone tally in the third quarter. Pennsylvania defender Chris Williams made it 8-0 with an unassisted two-pointer in the fourth, followed by a three-point restart goal from Corey Maret and another three-pointer from Ptah Myers. With the Ambush employing the sixth attacker, Maret got his second goal of the game with less than 30 seconds remaining to seal the Pennsylvania expansion franchise’s first-ever victory.
Veteran goalkeeper Peter Pappas got the win and the shutout for Pennsylvania, making 32 saves. Jeff Richey took the loss for St. Louis, making 18 saves on 24 attempts. The contest was a physical one on both sides, with the Roar collecting 24 fouls to 17 for St. Louis.
The Ambush play back-to-back games next Friday and Saturday against the Missouri Comets and Milwaukee Wave, before returning home to the Family Arena to host the Wave on Sunday, February 1 at 1:35 p.m.
