The Chill scored three unanswered goals to shake off an early 1-0 Quad City lead and got 38 saves from Robby Moss to stymie a late charge and hang on to a 3-2 win Wednesday night.

Quad City (10-5-5) took a 1-0 lead just 2:19 into the game but the Chill would counter nine minutes later when rookie Ryan Berard netted his fourth goal on a wrister from the high slot to even the game.  Justin Levac and Steve Anthony picked up the helpers on the goal, their sixth and ninth points respectively.

St. Charles (7-13-4) got off to the quick start in the second period.  Martin Hlinka deflected a blast from Steve Makway at the 3:38 mark to give the lead to the Chill with reigning CHL player of the week Dan Weiss picking up the second assist, his eighth point in 13 games.  The Chill made it a two-goal lead late in the period on a nifty set up from Jordan Fox, who slowed at the top right circle and let the traffic clear around Kyle O’Kane before putting the pass on the tape in the high slot.  O’Kane buried the shot high glove side for a 3-1 lead with David Strathman picking up the second assist.

The Chill needed some big saves from Robby Moss to keep the lead in the third.  With four minutes left and the home team up 3-1 the Mallards were whistled for interference and the Chill went on the power play. Quad City was able to add a shorthanded goal from Thomas Frazee to close within 3-2 but the defense and Moss cleared away a flurry of shots in the final minute with Quad City pulling goalie Ty Rimmer for the extra attacker.

St. Charles is back on the ice with back-to-back road games Friday and Saturday against Missouri and Quad City, respectively, before returning home to take on the Mallards Sunday with puck drop set for 4:05.
