Rascals Sweep Doubleheader With Pair Of Walkoffs

The River City Rascals won the first game of their doubleheader with the Normal CornBelters on a walkoff RBI single in the bottom of the 7th by Evan Crawford.

Eric Williams reached base four times with two singles and two walks. He singled in the fourth and sixth innings.

Jason Matusik was solid at the plate for the Normal CornBelters. Matusik went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fifth inning and homered in the seventh inning.

Gabriel Shaw recorded his second win of the year for the River City Rascals. He allowed one run over one inning. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered three hits.

Mitch Mormann (4-5) took the loss for the Normal CornBelters.

In the nightcap, River City’s Will Block hit a walkoff three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to rally the Rascals to a 6-5 win.

Kyle Owings picked up his 5th win of the season.

Aaron Dudley was 3-for-4 with two RBIs for the Belters. Reliever Alan Oaks suffered the loss.

The two wins moved the Rascals into 3rd place, 9 games behind the Gateway Grizzlies and Schaumburg Boomers.
