What to do on an Off-Day

by

What’s a girl gonna do on an off-day? I feel like I’ve been eating, breathing and sleeping Cardinals’ baseball since the season began just over a week ago. But tonight, no Cardinals’ baseball. I’m feeling a little fidgety.

I’ve been racking my brain all day about what I was going to do with myself once the two littlest Cards’ fans in KC went to bed this evening. I have decided to compile a little list of things to do, so here goes:

1. Try and find another baseball game to watch. Just turned on the White Sox-Nationals game. So far, not keeping my attention. I see no Yadi blocking the plate. No Matt Adams coming up to pinch hit another dinger out of the ballpark. Plus it’s an early interleague game. Yep, that’s not going to work.

2. Read. There are a couple of books that I have on my tablet that I really want to read. I got half-way through One Last Strike by Tony LaRussa during the playoffs last year. When the Cards lost to the Giants in the postseason, I had to put it down. Call it my mourning period. I still need to finish it, but with the way my memory works, I would probably have to start from the beginning. If you’ve read it, let me know your thoughts. Maybe you could inspire me to pick it back up.

3. Get caught up on all of the Cards’ news on the internet. Maybe. At least I could fill my brain with some more useful baseball information. The unfortunate part of this, though, is that I think I’m all caught up with the news. I bet something exciting will happen by the time I finish this post.

4.  Figure out why Matt Carpenter does not wear batting gloves. I know that this has been talked about. May have to do a little research and find out more. It bothers me! I can actually feel my hands hurting (if you’ve ever hit a ball off the wrong part of an aluminum bat, you know that sting I’m talking about) every time he hits the ball. I really wish he would just wear something. Those old Mizuno padded neon batting gloves, mittens, ANYTHING.

5.  Research all of the information on ligament tears in the elbow.  Now, this one may be a winner, folks!  I will find a cure for Motte!  He will be back on the diamond in no time!  You can thank me later.

Off to do my research, I am determined to find an alternative to Tommy John surgery!  Until tomorrow at 7:15….Go Cards!
